Positions for the 2021 to 2022 term of court have been filled.

Applications for the 2022 to 2023 term of court will be accepted now, and should include:

Your cover letter, resume, at least two letters of recommendation, and two writing samples, one unedited by others.

Please send your most recent law school grades as they become available. Class standing is preferred to be in the top 15%. Demonstrated leadership and law review experience are highly recommended.

Hard copies by mail are acceptable with a copy also sent to the preferred delivery at: Clerks_TMT@ca10.uscourts.gov

Judge Jerome A. Holmes

Applications will be received and reviewed anytime after receipt of second year law school grades.

When possible, we prefer that applicants enclose letters of recommendation with their applications. We will accept applications without letters of recommendation for those law schools adhering to the law clerk hiring date, but please include a list of your references in your cover letter. Likewise, we will accept unofficial transcripts until final transcripts are available. The application materials should include at least two writing samples.

Judge Scott M. Matheson, Jr.

Law clerk positions starting in August 2023 and late December 2023 have been filled. The
next law clerk positions to be filled are scheduled to begin in August 2024 and late
December 2024..  The start and end dates of the clerkship term may require adjustment.

Applicants must have completed at least two full years of law school coursework to be considered.  
Applicants may apply electronically through OSCAR, through the mail, or both.

Applications from students who entered law school in 2020 (graduating class of 2023) will not be
reviewed before June 13, 2022.

  1. OSCAR – submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, writing sample, and two recommendation letters to OSCAR.
  2. Mail – send a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, writing sample, and two recommendation letters (which may be submitted under separate cover), to:

Judge Robert E. Bacharach

Judge Bacharach is accepting applications for 2023-24 clerkship positions. Law clerk applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and two writing samples. You are encouraged to submit applications via OSCAR but applications may also be emailed to susan_stands@ca10.uscourts.gov. In addition, letters of recommendation may be submitted under separate cover.
