Wichita, KS -- On Friday, July 24th, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit appointed Honorable Mitchell L. Herren to the bankruptcy bench for the District of Kansas.
Judge Herren was previously with the Hinkle Law Firm in Wichita, Kansas where he specialized in commercial and complex litigation. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Law School.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit is accepting applications from all qualified persons for the position of Federal Public Defender for the District of New Mexico. The term of office is four years, with potential for successive appointments. The current authorized annual salary is $166,500. The Federal Public Defender provides federal criminal defense services to individuals unable to afford counsel.

The Judicial Council of the Tenth Circuit has issued an order that publicly reprimands U.S. District Judge Carlos Murguia of the District of Kansas for several forms of misconduct, including sexual harassment and other inappropriate behavior during and outside of official court duties. In doing so, the Judicial Council followed the Judiciary’s process for addressing judicial misconduct complaints that is mandated by statute and informed by the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges.
